Setting up your own Search Business

September 30, 2021

We’re delighted to be joined by three founders who have each started their own search business. They will share with us the why’s, when’s and how’s, plus some of the hard bits that no one else talks about!
The discussions will be moderated by Kate Bamford, Founder of Ivy Street with plenty of opportunity for questions.

Kate Bamford, Founder of Ivy Street
Kate founded Ivy Street in 2018 and is focused on building long-term partnerships with clients, supporting them on both Board and Senior Executive search work and executive level succession planning as well as coaching and mentoring, both for internal and external candidates. She was previously a Partner at JCA Group where she spent 12 years working across sectors at both Board and Senior Executive level.

With core expertise and relationships in the TMT, Digital and Consumer space, Kate and her team at Ivy Street focus on delivering proactive, thoughtful and relevant market intelligence and, beyond delivering successful search mandates, a key driver for Kate is ensuring she and the team have the bandwidth to create meaningful, supportive and lasting relationships through relevant introductions and connections, whether for clients’ needs today or for the future.

Alex Gordon Shute, Founder of Ithaca Partners
Alex founded Ithaca Partners in 2008 because she had lost faith in the search profession’s collective drive to excel and felt that she needed to ‘put her money where her mouth was’ by starting her own firm to show how well search could deliver for clients and candidates. Her experience and skills in search span multiple sectors, but always in Corporate Affairs. Before starting Ithaca Partners Alex worked for The Rose Partnership, Odgers Berndtson and Taylor Bennett.

Shani Newbold, Founder of Cadence Partners
Nine years ago Shani Newbold founded Cadence Partners to readdress the balance of diversity in leadership, non-executive and Trustee roles for large national social purpose organisations and public sector bodies. Their driving mission is to challenge broken recruitment practices. She does this through inspiring, challenging and supporting organisations to build workplaces that are more diverse and inclusive. Prior to this Shani has been instrumental in growing the Executive Search practices of two national executive recruitment and talent management businesses.

Dan Hyde, Co-founder of Erevena
Dan co-founded Erevena in 2004, and is CEO with day-to-day responsibility for setting the company’s strategy and building the team, plus overseeing the management of client relationships across Erevena globally.   Dan’s heritage is working with technology builders and he has been responsible for appointing executive teams for some of the world’s fastest growing SaaS companies. He has worked across all sectors, with a particular focus on CEO, General Management, Chair, and NED roles within venture capital backed companies. He is also an active investor in a number of early-stage technology ventures.
